It was an unsettling morning for some residents of Umar Suleiman Female Hall of Residence at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, as six mobile phones were reportedly stolen in the early hours of today.

The incident occurred around 4:00 AM in Block A of the hostel. According to eyewitnesses, a female student raised the alarm after discovering her phone was missing, shouting “Thief! Thief!” and waking others in the process. However, the alleged thief was not apprehended.

Reports indicate that four phones were stolen from one room, while two others were taken from another. Some students claim the individual suspected of the theft was fully covered in a hijab, making identification difficult. No arrests have been made as of the time of this report.

Efforts to speak with the affected students were unsuccessful, as they declined to comment. A security officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stated that no official information could be released until investigations are complete and the facts are verified.
