A female student suspected of stealing six mobile phones earlier today at Umar Suleiman Female Hall of Residence, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has allegedly been apprehended during a second attempted theft.

The suspect was reportedly caught on the second floor of Block F while attempting to steal a laptop. The incident attracted attention, causing a stir as students trooped out of their rooms to catch a glimpse of the alleged thief.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect’s face was initially visible but later covered before she was taken away by security personnel. A van from the university’s security office arrived shortly after to transport her.

When asked whether the suspect is connected to the earlier theft, in which six phones were stolen from two rooms in Block A4, security personnel declined to comment, stating that the investigation is still ongoing.

The Hall Governor of Block A, who accompanied the suspect to the security unit, said she could not disclose any details about the suspect, citing confidentiality.

However, two students who claimed to have seen the suspect’s face before it was covered alleged that she is a 100-level student.

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released, and the investigation is still underway.
