The former People's Democratic Party (PDP) Woman Leader, Honourable Aisha Ibrahim, has revealed that she sold Zobo while she was an undergraduate at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Honourable Aisha made this disclosure on July 12, 2025, as a keynote speaker at the Leadership Summit aimed at empowering female students. The event was held at the Yusuf Bala Usman Hall in ABU.
According to her, she has always valued independence and understood that, in order to achieve it, she needed to engage in a business that would meet her needs as a student. She chose to sell Zobo with the slogan “Zobo with a difference” to distinguish herself from others in the same line of business.
She attributed her entrepreneurial spirit to her mother, who was both a businesswoman and a politician.
“My mother, who was a businesswoman and a politician, a strong willed woman, instilled in me the importance of perseverance and hard work,” she said.
She therefore encouraged female students to also embrace entrepreneurship, noting that during her time as a student, she sold Zobo in the era of stoves, let alone now when opportunities are more accessible and tools are easier to use.
Her story served as a powerful reminder that with determination and resourcefulness, students can overcome financial limitations and become future leaders.
