Adjusted Ingredients:

  • 4 cups raw peanuts (groundnuts)
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup powdered milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon salt (for soaking)
  • A few drops of vanilla extract (quantity is approximate)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) (quantity is approximate)
Step 1: Prep the Peanut

Pick out any bad or broken peanuts. Once you’ve done that, soak the good ones in hot water mixed with a tablespoon of salt. Leave them for 5–10 minutes. Drain with a sieve, spread them out, and let them dry under the sun for about an hour. This helps the coating stick better.

Step 2: Mix the Wet and Dry Ingredients
In one bowl, mix:
1. Flour
2. Powdered milk
3. Nutmeg
4. Salt

Set it aside.
In another bowl, crack in the eggs, add sugar and a bit of vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

Step 3: Coat the Peanut

Now comes the fun part. Put the dried peanuts into a large bowl. Add a bit of the egg mixture, then sprinkle some flour mixture over it. Use your hands to mix and separate the peanuts if they stick together. Repeat this, wet mixture, then flour, until each peanut is well coated.

Step 4: Fry Them Up

Heat oil in a deep pan. When hot (but not smoking), add the coated peanuts and fry on medium heat. Stir often so they don’t burn. Once they turn golden brown, remove and drain on paper towels.

Step 5: Cool and Package

Let the peanuts cool completely before packaging them. Once they’re cool and crispy, you can store them in sealed containers or small bags ready to sell or eat!

Coated peanuts are an easy snack to make, but to sell them, make sure they’re always crunchy, clean, and well packaged. Try giving samples to friends or selling at school events to get started. It’s okay if it’s not perfect the first time, just keep practicing. Give it a try! You might just find yourself running a mini peanut empire from your dorm room
